Internet Business Ideas: Every internet business is different and I know most people have been dreaming about starting their own business for ever. I would like to know, in your own words, what your idea was for www.ThriftyHipster.com.

When I started WineLoversMeet.com I was new to running an Internet business but not new to running a business. I previously had a company with huge expenses and 160 employees. I wanted to work for myself and by myself without having to depend on other people to help me run my business. An Internet business was the solution. With online dating becoming more widely accepted it's easier to attract members, especially with our niche. A general dating site may have been more difficult to compete with the giants that have been around a lot longer. Making our dating site free also helped membership increase faster. I now spend most of my time trying to attract corporate sponsors to place banner ads on my site. Otherwise, the site itself is completely automated.

Why you decided to start your own internet business: I would like to know / share with others why you decided to start this internet business. Everyone has a different story and I would like to know yours.

I've owned businesses in the past and once you work for yourself, it's very difficult to go back to work for someone else. I like knowing that the more I put into my business, the more money I can potentially make. Unlike working for someone else where you get the same salary no matter how much or how hard you work. Owning a business gives me the flexibility to be creative and do the things that I think are best. Having an internet business means you can market to a world-wide audience, not just community-based. This makes the possibilities endless because you're not limited to a clientele that's only within close proximity to your business.

WebBizIdeas made it very easy for me. We spoke on the phone about what type of internet business I wanted and they produced it a short time thereafter. The people I dealt with were always friendly, always returned my calls and always answered my questions.

Your Website Design: Can you tell customers about how / why you had us design your website the way it is. Please let us know in your own words how WebBizIdeas.com designed your site. Are you happy with it, do you have future plans to develop it more?

I was pretty demanding about how I wanted my site designed. I had an idea as to how I wanted the site to be and I expected it to be that way by the time it was completed. By the time my site was finished, it was exactly the way I wanted it.

Who is your target audience? Can you tell us more about your target audience? This will be very helpful for you in the search engines if you include ‘keywords’ that you are trying to obtain listings for in the search engines

As I indicated before there are countless dating sites on the Internet, some of which have a much higher advertising budget then I had. I know I had to do something a little different to make people want to become a member of my site. Since I'm somewhat of a wine enthusiast, I decided to make my dating site specifically for people who enjoy wine. In addition, choosing a niche like wine allowed me to attract members of the same demographic which made advertising on my site much more appealing. My advertisers who sell wine and wine accessories know that their advertising dollars are being spent wisely knowing that all of the members on my site are wine enthusiasts.

Overall Feedback: Can you give us your overall feedback on how you liked working with WebBizIdeas.com and your project manager?

The main thing I like about having worked with WebBizIdeas is even after the project was done, they were still helpful. Some website designers practically disappear after you send them their last payment.

Current Advertising & Promotions: We are very interested in knowing what our customers are doing for advertising & promotions. If you could share what you are doing and if any companies are working for you that would be greatly appreciated. We would love to know if you are having success.

As with any site like mine, the more members (and visitors) I have the more valuable my advertising is worth. I spent a lot of time exchanging reciprocal links with similar sites and directories in an effort to increase my page rank. I also submit regular press releases as I've learned search engines take them very seriously. I currently engaged in a cost-per-click campaign with Google which has significantly increased my membership. I've also created strategic alliances with other dating or wine-related sites where I would post something about them in my articles or news section in exchange for them placing my link on their site or blog. Having a backward link on another site whose page rank is higher can be extremely beneficial.
