Buddy Zone & PHPFOX have the same software features so most people have a hard time determining which software to use. If you like the designs of Buddy Zone go with Buddy Zone. The owner is very friendly and can help modify your software if you need it.

Only downfall:

The software does not have a cult following like PHPFOX does. You can download 100’s of applications that will spice up your PHPFOX community because of this very inexpensively. Buddy Zone does not have this so expect hiring a web development company (like webbiz) or going directly through Vastal.com for adding applications.
